I’m going to teach you the E Minor harmonic scale today. The notes of the scale are E, F sharp, G, A, B, C, D sharp, and E. Now let’s take a look at the fingering for the scale.

The right hand starts on the E with thumb. When your third finger hits the G, cross your thumb under to the A. Now use all five fingers, ending the scale with the E with your pinky. On the way back down, cross your third finger over when your thumb gets back to the A and finish the scale.

The left thumb uses the pinky to hit the E. From there work up using all five fingers until your thumb hits the B. Cross over with your third finger to hit the C and finish out the scale. Your second finger will be on the E. On the way back down, cross your thumb under the third finger when it gets back to the C and finish the scale. Read more…

The E Flat Minor Harmonic scale is next. The notes of the scale are E flat, F, G flat, A flat, B flat, B, D, and finally the E flat octave. Keep reading to learn the proper fingering for the scale.

Starting with the second finger of the right hand, hit the E flat. Bring the thumb under to hit the F, then hit the G flat with the second finger. Continue playing until you get to the B flat, then cross your thumb under to hit the B natural. Finish off the scale finger by finger until your third finger lands on the E flat octave. Come down the same way.

The left hand starts with the second finger as well. Now hit the F with your thumb and cross the fourth finger over to hit the G flat. The thumb will land on the B, at which point you cross the third finger over to hit the D and finish the the second finger on the E flat. Come back down the same way you went up, in reverse. Today’s scale is E Flat major. Let’s take a look at the notes in the scale. They are E flat, F, G, A flat, B flat, C, D, and the E flat octave. Now let me show you the proper fingering for the scale.

The right hand starts off on the second finger. From there bring your thumb under to hit the F. Hit the G with your second finger and continue finger by finger until the fourth finger hits the B flat. Finish the scale with your third finger on the E flat octave. Coming back down the scale is the exact same, just retrace your steps.

The third finger of the left hand starts off on the E flat and when your thumb hits the G key, the fourth finger comes over and hits the A flat. Continue up the scale finger by finger until the thumb hits the D. Finish off the scale by bringing the third finger over to hit the E flat octave. Come back down using the same fingering. Read more…
